COVID-19: Systems Under Stress. Shifts in Consumer Awareness and Adaptation in Response to the Challenges of the Pandemic

COVID-19’s disruptive impacts on communities, households, and individuals have triggered deeper examination of personal and collective approaches to health and well-being. As a result, we observe changes in consumer sentiment coalescing into key themes.
 
The fielding of the study behind The Hartman Group’s Functional Food & Beverage and Supplements 2020 report coincided with the onset of the coronavirus pandemic. Realizing that the resulting anxiety along with stay-at-home orders would have profound effects on the results, a special chapter was devoted to the disruptive impacts on household routines and the pandemic’s role as a catalyst for engagement with Health + Wellness, most notably in terms of the use of supplements and functional foods/beverages.
